YU Gang

YU Gang

Dr. Yu Gang is the Associate Professor of School of Architecture in Southeast University located in Nanjing, China. He studied at the Southeast University School of Architecture in 1992-1997, and completed a Master (2000) and a PhD (2004) at Southeast University. He received a Best Doctor Dissertation Prize in 2005 at SEU. He researched as a visiting scholar at the Architectural School in the University of Virginia in 2015-2016.

He teaches mainly Architecture design studio, and courses in the digital architectural theory, with a focus on the mobile and interactive architecture. Under his joint studio instruction, the students’ project was accepted in Venice Architecture Biennale 2010.

His research work has been focused on the contemporary architecture design and theory, digital architecture, interactive architecture. He is the author of Toward Interactive Architecture (2017) and The Rise of the Digital Architecture (2012), and has published more than 30 articles widely. The National Science Foundation in China (NSFC) funds his recent research projects, mainly about the research of the interactive architectural interface, and one is “The Research on the Prototype of the Interactive Textures for Architecture Based on the Ubiquitous Computing” (2014-2017), and another is “The study of applying ubiquitous computing interactive technology to adaptive architectural environments” (2010-2012).
