XU Xiaodong

Dr. XU, born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, graduated from Department of Architecture of Southeast University in 1997, was awarded the Master Degree of Architecture of Southeast University in 2000; was awarded the PhD Degree of Southeast University in June 2005; began to teach at the School of Architecture of Southeast University in 2005; conducted academic exchange and visit at Department of Architecture of Chinese University of Hong Kong as a visiting scholar from 2006 to 2007; He was promoted to be an associate professor and a tutor of master students in 2009; and served as a visiting scholar at University of California, Berkeley from 2017 to 2018.

Dr. XU is the vice-director of Department of Architecture of Southeast University, member of Green Building and Energy Conservation Committee of China Association of City Planning, and member of Professional Committee of Urban Design of Civil Construction Society of Jiangsu Province. 

For a long time, Dr. XU has always been dedicated to studies and practice in such fields as public building design and its theory, green building and urban design, building construction and industrialization, and settlement morphology and rural planning of East China. So far, Dr. XU has published more than 50 academic papers of various types, 4 monographs and 1 translation on such journals as Journal of Architecture and New Architecture; he has organized or participated in more than 30 projects of urban design and public building creations, and his achievements have been awarded 5 first prizes and 3 second prizes at the provincial level.  

Now, Dr. XU is in charge of “key techniques and integrated demonstration for the construction of village-town livable communities and industrialized comfortable houses in regions with a dense water-network”, a project of National Scientific and Technological Support in the“Twelfth-Five-Year Plan” Period,“Studies of Quantitative Evaluation and Dynamic Evolution Mechanism of Rural Spatial Structures in Southern Jiangsu Province”, a general project of National Science Foundation of China (RMB 810 thousand), and 2 projects of Open Fund of National Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science. So far, he has chiefly participated in a project of National Scientific and Technological Support in the “Twelfth-Five-Year Plan” Period, 1 project of National Science Fund for Distinguished Youth Scholars, 4 projects of National Science Foundation of China, and 2 projects of Doctoral Scientific Fund of Ministry of Education.
