Dr. Cao is a full Professor and the director of 'Center for Intelligent Built Environment, CIBE' at School of Architecture, Southeast University; a Visiting Professor of Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE), University of Surrey, UK. He is now serving as Deputy Editor for international journal of Indoor and Built Environment, Editorial Board for Sustainable Cities and Society, Safety Science, Buildings, Energies etc., Associate Editor of Frontiers in Sustainable Cities. He is now the President of International Society of Built Environment (ISBE), Member of ISIAQ, Committee Members of Chinese Society for Environmental Science, China innovation alliance for HVAC etc.
He has published more than 60 SCI papers, among which 51 papers as the first or corresponding author, 41 papers from JCR Area 1; 7 papers have been awarded as ESI articles); awarded as World’s Top 2% Scientists 2020 in built environment design. He has been granted by governmental fundings more than 10 times, e.g., NSFC. He has been always interested and active in international collaboration, such as Harvard (Health Initiatives), Surrey (GCRF for CArE-Cities and CArE-Homes), Tampere (TFK for ARCH4FUTURE) etc. He is now the co-editor of ‘Handbook of Ventilation Design in Built Environment’ invited by IET in UK.
He has been served as committee member for international conferences 14 times, such as Indoor Air, ISHVAC, IAQVEC etc. He serves as reviewers for more than 60 international journals and evaluate International Scientific Proposals, such as RGC in Hongkong and Monitoring & Assessment (M&A) Panel for Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS), UKRI strategic key Fund (SPF)/Future Leaders Fellowship, UK engineering and Natural Science Research Council (EPSRC), Polish National Science Center (NSC) etc.
