承接2015年11月28-29日在中国南京举办的第一届“水与历史城镇 - 互动及形态变迁”国际研讨会，根特大学将举办第二届“水与城市--全球大都市三角洲”国际研讨会。在全球化的今天，大都市三角洲，如长江三角洲、珠江三角洲、湄公河三角洲，伊洛瓦底三角洲，恒河三角洲，印度河三角洲和欧洲三角洲等，在气候变化，水系管理，灌溉和粮食生产、交通运输与分布等方面面临着同样的挑战。此外，作为世界著名河流的密集多核城市化大都市三角洲区域，它们被预期于应对相同类型的经济，动态和环境问题，基于长期的地理-形态学与区域性层面的城市布局和适应性治理。因此，研讨会欢迎全球大都市三角洲研究领域相关学者参加。
Following the first Asia-Europe seminar on urban development and water management at Southeast University of Nanjing, China during 28-29 November 2015, Ghent University will host the second seminar focused on Global Metropolitan Delta’s. Reason for this is the determination that Metropolitan Delta’s - like those of the Yangtze, Pearl River, Mekong, Irriwaddy, Ganges, Indus, and Eurodelta - face the same challenges with regard to climate change, water management, irrigation and food production, and (as gateways to their hinterlands) transport and distribution.Many cities and towns in these regions are of historic with very rich heritage. Moreover, as intensive polynuclear urbanised regions of big and smaller cities along the estuaries of the world famous rivers, it is expected that they have to deal with same kind of economic, mobile and environmental issues, also based on long run geo-morphological path dependencies with regard to (regional) urban layout and adaptive governance. Therefore the seminar welcomes ideas, papers and contributions in Global Metropolitan Delta’s.
