Research direction: Urban design, Theory and design of urban planning
Gao Yuan, national registered urban planner, is a member of the academic committee of urban design in both Urban Planning Society of China and Architectural Society of China.
Focusing on urban design realm, the main research direction is to discover laws between space properties and public perceptions of city landscapes and construct relevant design control methods and index systems. She has led or participated in 5 research items financed by National Natural Science Foundation of China; published more than 40 papers; participated in organizing and compiling three national reference books such as Encyclopedia of China; won a second prize in Science and Technology Progress Award by Chinese Ministry of Education for the work involved. As the leader or the main participant in recent years, she completed 20 important projects which won at least 7 national or provincial level awards more than 15 times.
In teaching, she presided over the course i.e. Comprehensive Investigation on urban and rural society, which was selected as one of National First-class Undergraduate Courses. She was also honored as a Famous teacher and team member in Political Demonstration by Chinese Ministry of Education; won the title of My favorite top ten graduate tutors of Southeast University. Under her guidance, students received more than 20 awards in various professional competitions, including Jiangsu Team’s Excellent Graduation Work twice.
