The Urban and Architectural Heritage Conservation at Southeast University is the key laboratory of the Minister of Education in China. Sustained by the School of Architecture, School of Civil Engineering, School of Material, School of Environment and School of Humanity of SEU, the main basis of the laboratory is two national important disciplines of the School of Architecture – Architectural History and Theory and Architectural Design and Theory. The organization of the laboratory started from 2008, and has operated openly in 2012.
The Laboratory represents the achievement of long term researches on related issues in urban and architectural history, theory, practice and education of SEU. Southeast University was set up in 1902. Its School of Architecture built up in 1927 is the first architectural school in higher education of China, and has been in a leading position ever since. From the very beginning when it was established, it has paid attention to researches and practice in urban and architectural heritage conservation, which has become the legacy and tradition of the School, and has acquired outstanding outcomes in practice, researches and education.
