The Fine Arts and Design Institute is a department with a long history, which is rooted in the fine arts teaching and research group of the Architecture Department of Southeast University. The fine arts teaching and research group was established in 1942, and the first program for masters of fine arts among national architecture colleges was established in 1987. In 2011, a program for masters of fine arts in the first-level discipline was approved. At present, the Institute is mainly responsible for the basic teaching of visual design in the three majors of the School of Architecture, as well as professional courses or elective courses such as fine arts history, environmental color, interior decoration design, furniture and public facility design, etc., and at the same time, training masters of fine arts. In recent years, the Institute has paid attention to the research in its own team’s professional direction, while taking into account the crossing and integration with other departments of the School of Architecture, fully stimulating its potential, contributing to the school’s education and scientific research, and striving to reach the leading level in China.
