Huangyao Ancient Town, located in Hezhou, Guangxi, originated in Song Dynasty and is one of the third group of Chinese Famous Historical and Cultural Towns and Villages. There are hundreds of residential buildings of Ming and Qing dynasties preserved in the town, which has a long ancestral hall culture and four intangible cultural heritage. In recent years, due to the continuous move out of the town's aborigines and the gradual commercialization of the main street, the occupancy rate of residential buildings in Huangyao Ancient Town has been decreasing, causing the urgent need of maintenance of the ancient houses, and reasonable protection of the authenticity of the living environment.
From August 15 to 29, 2022, the previous workshop focused on Architectural features and characteristics of Huangyao, Local microclimate and residential comfort in Huangyao, Huangyao key residential architecture research, Huangyao residential renovation public opinion survey, Huangyao environmental remediation survey for two weeks.
This international workshop of Huangyao Ancient Town will continue to carry out research on the protection of Ming and Qing folk houses in Huangyao on the basis of the second workshop. According to the heritage characteristics of Ming and Qing folk houses and the requirements of local living environment protection, on-the-spot mapping of the residential heritage will be carried out, the strategies for improving the environment of the heritage building will be learned, and the residential protection solutions will be proposed, so as to cultivate the cognition and practical ability of international heritage protection
