Dong Yinan, Bachelor of Architecture, Ph.D. of Architecture, and Postdoctoral Fellow of Southeast University; Visiting Scholar of Politecnico di Torino, Italy; Member of the Sino-Italian Transitional Morphologies (TransMo) Research Centre; Chief Architect of Urban Architecture Lab (UAL) in Architects & Engineers Co., Ltd. Of Southeast University; the Secretary-General of the Urban Architecture Regeneration Committee of Jiangsu Exploration And Design Association(JEDA). He was named one of the 1st Nanjing Outstanding Young Architect, and the first batch of Community Planner in Nanjing.
His main research direction is urban regeneration, especially the regeneration mechanisms and methods of historic area. He insists on exploring the spatial morphology and social participation in urban regeneration at the three levels of research, teaching and practice. He is a Principal Investigator for 3 national research projects, and published more than 10 papers as the first author in the top journals of his discipline, such as Architectural Journal, Urban Planning, FoAR (A&HCI), etc. Under his guidance, students have won numerous awards including the first prize in the UIA-CBC International University Construction Competition. His research has been applied to the planning and architectural design practice, and completed more than 30 urban regeneration projects as a principal designer, including the conservation and regeneration of Xiaoxihu block in Nanjing, the renovation of the industrial heritage of the Alum Mine in Hefei, the restoration of the large domes of the Hechai Cultural Park, the renovation of the apartment at Suchang Street in Yangzhou, etc. He has won 2 international awards and 7 provincial and ministerial excellent design awards.
