Shuichi Hokoi
Dr. Shuichi Hokoi is the Professor and Ph.D. supervisor of School of Architecture in Southeast University located in Nanjing, China, as well as the vice dean of the International Demonstration Architecture School in the university since March 2017. He has been teaching at Kyoto University since 1977, as an assistant professor, associate professor and professor, and was a postdoctoral fellow in the national research council of Canada from 1990 to 1991. He established the Hokoi’s Research Laboratory in Kyoto University, Japan since 1992, and was the leader of research direction of Architectural Environmental Engineering.
Dr. Hokoi’s research field is Architectural Environmental Engineering, including protection of architecture heritage, energy-saving in architecture, thermal environment in architecture and so on. He hosted 3 Natural Fund Key Projects (equal to the National Natural Science Fund Key Projects in China) and 13 Project on the Natural Fund (equal to the National Natural Science Foundation Project.) in JSPS. He has released approximately 120 academic dissertation, 800 meeting dissertation, and published 14 academic monographs. He has been invited to do international academic meeting keynote speech for 15 times and received 7 technology awards including awards of Architecture Association of Japan. There are 90 masters and 26 doctors graduating from his education.
Dr. Hokoi, now and before, has held many important positions in different international academic associations, including general director of Architecture Society of Japan (1999-2000), President of the HVAC Society of Japan (2004-2006), Director of the Energy and Resources Committee of Japan (2006-2009), Chairman of the architectural environment engineering branch of the Japanese Architectural Society (2003-2005), (International Standard Organization / Architectural Environment Design) ISO/TC205 Chairman of the Committee of the National Committee of Japan, committee member of Japan of American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineer and so on. Professor Shuichi is one of editors of 6 international SCI magazines and has organized a number of important International academic meetings. He is the chairman of the 5th international architecture physics meeting.
Research direction: (1) green building technology: green building renovation, zero energy building optimization and design, etc. (2) building healthy environment: construction of residential health environment, air quality control, indoor health and environmental protection technology, etc. (3) heritage protection: the protection and engineering design of masonry and ancient sites, scientific research of heritage protection, preventive protection and environmental monitoring technology, etc.
Laboratory members: this laboratory is compromised by Dr. Hokoi of the International Demonstration Architecture School of Southeast University (Former professor of School of Architecture, Kyoto University, Japan.) and Associate Professor Li Yonghui.
