Research direction: theory and method of landscape architecture planning and design; theory and method of modern urban design
Xu Ning, visiting researcher of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, has focused on the research and practice in the fields of landscape architecture planning and design, urban public space planning and design, landscape architecture design, digital landscape methods and technologies. Based on the forefront of industry and discipline development, she is committed to promoting the scientization of urban public space and landscape architecture planning and design methods, and promoting the organic integration of landscape architecture and urban renewal. Since 2013, she has been teaching in School of Architecture of Southeast University, focusing on the design and theory courses of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Since 2003, she has presided over and participated in more than 40 urban and rural planning and design projects, and her relevant achievements have won the second prize for Science & technology Development/Achievement of the Ministry of Education, the first prize of the excellent survey and design award of Jiangsu urban and rural construction system (Landscape Architecture Engineering), and the first prize of the Architectural Creation Award of Jiangsu Civil Engineering &Architectural Society, etc. She has presided over and completed 1 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 1 first-class funded project of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and participated in and completed 1 Key Project in the National Science & Technology Pillar Program during the 12th Five-year Plan Period. She is presiding over 1 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 1 sub project of the national R&D Program of China and participating in more than 10 NSFC projects. She has published 1 monograph and more than 40 SCI/SSCI and other papers in academic journals such as Applied Energy, Chinese landscape architecture, Journal of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, New Architecture, etc. Her Micro-course Online Video Materials and spatial intentions in landscape architecture design won the first prize in Jiangsu Province and the second prize in the second National University micro-course teaching competition. Design teaching under her guidance was awarded more than 10 awards at home and abroad including the silver award of Chinese Human Settlements Design. She has participated in 4 provincial level teaching reform projects, 2 school level teaching reform projects, and won 1 third prize of provincial teaching achievement (ranked 5th).
