Zhou Conghui is an associate professor and Ph.D advisor of the School of Architecture, Southeast University as well as a National Certified Planner of China, visiting professor of University of Rome (Sapienza), evaluation expert of professional degree of national landscape architecture graduate students of the Ministry of Education, review expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and consultant expert of old residential area reconstruction of Nanjing, Contributing Editor of Landscape Architecture.
Zhou Conghui got a Ph.D degree in Landscape Architecture from Tongji University. During the pursuit of the doctor’s degree, he studied at the Urban Design Program of Columbia University for a one-year’s Ph.D joint-training (2010-2011) and went to Department of Architecture at University of Rome (Sapienza) as a visiting scholar in 2012. In 2016 and 2019.
Since he has worked in SEU from 2013, he has been in charge of high-level research projects such as the General Program and Young Scholars Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Science and Technology Program of the Ministry of Housing and Construction of China. He presided over the publication of three academic monographs (one in Chinese – English dual language), participated in three English monographs of Columbia University and University of Rome (Sapienza). His research works were published in the authoritative journals like Cities, Sustainable Cities and Society, Environment and Planning, and so on. He has been invited to give lectures at Columbia University, University of Rome (Sapienza), top-level universities in China as well as the famous research, planning and design institutions.
He has been successively in charge of more than 30 landscape and urban planning and design projects, with the project types including urban design, urban green space planning, urban waterscape planning and design, urban contaminated land remediation, abandoned industrial land restoration and landscape regeneration, wetland planning and design, park design and so on. He participated in more than 50 planning and design projects, won a series of planning and design awards, and was repeatedly invited to serve as an expert judge of important international competition (bidding) projects in China.
He has instructed students to participate in the design competition, who have won one Gold Prize, one Silver Prize, and one Bronze Prize received respectively in the Yearly Award of Human Settlements Design Competition in China (The highest level in China) and some important awards at home and abroad such as Excellent Design in LA+ Design Competition of University of Pennsylvania received in 2018. He has taught frequently in international joint design work camp (workshop) at home and abroad, and was appraised as the Advanced Educator from the Chinese Landscape Architecture Educational Committee in 2017.
