ZHOU Xiang, honored as the Distinguished Young Scholar of Southeast University (SEU), is currently a postgraduate supervisor of SEU, and a special term PhD co-supervisor of Technological University of Malaysia (UTM). He received his doctoral degree at the University of Tokyo, and was a visiting scholar at the landscape architecture department of Budapest Corvinius University. Now he serves as the youth member and secretary of Cultural Landscape Professional Committee of CHSLA (Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture), the youth member of National Territory Landscape Professional Committee of CHSLA, the secretary of Landscape Architecture Committee of JCEAS (Jiangsu Civil Engineering &Architectural Society, China), and the youth committee member of Nanjing Overseas Chinese Federation.

He has been successively supported by the Erasmus Foundation of European Union, China Scholarships Council, and the Kishimoto Foundation of Japan-China Friendship Association, to carry out academic researches and degree studies in Europe and Japan. Funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Doctor Program of mass entrepreneurship and innovation in Jiangsu Province, China, he is presently engaging at the research and teaching of landscape heritage, cultural landscape, urban regeneration and community empowerment, regulations and management of landscape architecture. After supervising students wining multiple awards in design and research competitions, he successively received the honorary titles of ‘National Best Practice Teacher of Undergraduate’ and ‘The Most Popular Teacher of Southeast University’. In 2022, his teaching work and scientific research achievements were awarded by the ‘Education Development Fund of Southeast University’.

Currently, he is nominated as a member of the executive editorial boards of the journals of ‘Landscape Architecture Frontiers’ ’Urban China’ and ‘World Journal of Architecture and Urban Planning’. Meanwhile, he serves as the contributing editor and expert reviewer of the journals of ‘Home Cultures’ ‘Landscape Architecture’ ‘ Chinese Landscape Architecture’ ‘Urban Planning International’, and ‘Journal of Human Settlements in West China’, with more than 20 papers published in the core journals at home and abroad. During the past 3 years, he has successively completed several projects, such as the rural vitalization project of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), community construction project in Nanjing Qinhuai District, and urban regeneration project in Jiangsu Kunshan, China.
