Research direction: history of Chinese architecture, theory and method of heritage protection.

Shen Yang is a Deputy Director of the Key Scientific Research Base of National Cultural Heritage Administration for Research on Traditional Wood Construction Techniques and Director of Chinese Society of The Forbidden City. He is mainly engaged in Chinese architectural history and urban, architectural heritage protection.

He has presided over and participated in a number of national and ministerial scientific research projects. He has published more than 60 academic papers and 10 monographs in core journals such as Architectural Journal, Chinese Landscape Architecture, Architects, etc., delivered speeches at international conferences for many times, and won many provincial and ministerial paper awards, publishing awards and design awards.
