Biography:
ZHANG Hong is a national first-class registered architect, director of Institute of Building Technology and Science, School of Architecture, Southeast University, director of Institute of Industrial Housing and Building Industry of Southeast University. He also leads the BIM-CIM Technology Research Center and serves as the dean of the Institute of Architectural Industrialization Engineering Design at Southeast University's Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. He is a technical leader trainee in Jiangsu Province's 333 Cross-Century Academy and Cultivation Project. Over the years, he has conducted extensive research in areas includingarchitectural design theory based on datafication, design theory and method of architectural industrialization and prefabricated construction, design techniques and software development of BIM-CIM, design techniques and methods of life-cycle carbon-neutral building, interdisciplinary research in the field of new technologies in architecture and so on.
Professor ZHANG proposed the Component-Based Architectural Design Theory, pioneered the research and teaching of data-driven architectural design techniques and methods based on component methods, building carbon emission performance control design techniques and methods, key technologies and methods for industrialized construction of buildings, intelligent design method based on Building Information Modeling, and key technologies and methods of carbon controls design method based on City Information Modeling. His work focuses on integrating construction, performance, and humanities, paving the way for modern architectural transformation while nurturing next generation of architects.
Professor ZHANG has successively taken charge of and participated in more than 100 engineering projects, , many of which have garnered prestigious awards: Nanjing Jinling Library won the first prize of excellent architectural engineering design of the Ministry of Education in 2009, the second prize of excellent engineering design of the National Engineering Survey and Design Industry in 2009; Xuzhou Pengcheng University Library won the second prize of excellent architectural engineering design of Jiangsu Province in 2004. Projects he participated in have won the following prizes: Huai'an Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall won the Bronze Award for national excellent design in 1993, the first prize of excellent architectural engineering design of the Ministry of Education, and the first prize of excellent engineering design of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in 1993; two projects of Fujian Hailuota and Henan Museum were selected for the China Architecture Achievement Exhibition of Beijing UIA Congress in 1999; Huai'an Zhou Enlai Relics Exhibition Hall won the second prize of excellent engineering design of the Ministry of Education in 2001 and Testimonial Award for excellent engineering design of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in 2001; in 2004, the monument to the 50th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet won the first prize for excellent architectural engineering design of the Ministry of Education. Additionally, he has been the lead editor or co-editor of 10 standards and has received the first prize for Standard Technology Innovation.
In recent years, he has presided over projects under the 11th Five-Year Plan and 12th Five-Year Plan for national science and technology support program, as well as 4 general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published 15 books, obtained one U. S. PCT patent, 13 invention patents, and over 20 software copyrights; he has been the lead editor or co-editor of 10 standards and has also published over 150 papers in domestic and international core journals. His scientific research achievements have won many awards. The projects he took charge of have won the following prizes: the development and application of building industrial housing equipment won the first prize of Chinese industry-university-research cooperation innovation achievement in 2016, and the scientific research achievement of research and demonstration of key technology in the design and construction of affordable housing industrialization participated in the national 12th Five-Year Plan scientific and technological innovation achievement exhibition in 2018; New Prefabricated Building Design Theory, Technology, and Application received the third prize of Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award in 2020; The application of building component-based design theory and technology won the third prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Architectural Society of China in 2021; New Type of Building Industrialization Low-Carbon Prefabricated Residential Building Component-Based Design Theory, Technology and Application won the first prize of the Science and Technology Award from the China Real Estate Association in 2021; Low-Carbon Prefabricated Residential Building Design Theory, Technology, and Application won the second prize of the Productivity Promotion Award in 2021; Prefabricated Green Building Information Service and Supervision Integrated Platform Software and Application won the Second Prize of Science and Technology Award from the China Real Estate Association in 2023.
