Research direction: study on the ecological development of urban space, theory and method of overall planning for territorial space
Quan Yaling studied in the School of Architecture, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology between 1990 and 1997 and obtained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in engineering (Urban Planning). In 2011, she received her doctoral degree in urban planning from Southeast University.
Since 1997, she has been teaching in Urban Planning Department of School of Architecture, Southeast University, mainly engaged in teaching, scientific research and engineering practice in territorial space planning, urban and rural ecological and environmental planning. In 2008, she went to the Industrial Ecology Department of KTH Royal Institute of Technology for further study for a year, and made research progress in the evaluation and transformation of the ecological development of urban space.
She has won the teaching achievement award of Jiangsu Province in 2005, the excellent survey and design award in urban and rural construction system of Jiangsu Province in 2006, the second prize of higher education teaching achievement of Jiangsu Province in 2007 and the second prize of construction science and technology award of Jiangsu Province in 2012; she participated in the compilation of the textbook Urban Planning and Design, which won the first prize for the national planning textbook (the second batch) during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period issued by the Ministry of Education; between 2013 and 2016, she was awarded for three excellent teaching and research papers on the annual conference of urban and rural planning education of among higher education institutions in China.
She has led and participated in more than 30 urban planning and design projects, and won many awards in international and domestic planning and design competitions. She has published more than 20 academic papers.
